Intermarine UK was selected to provide specialist workforce mobilisation and support for a major naval shipbuilding programme to a leading UK defence contractor. The programme forms part of a wider international effort to deliver next-generation naval vessels for allied naval forces.
Working within a highly regulated and security-sensitive environment, Intermarine UK assembled and managed a workforce of more than 550 skilled shipbuilding professionals drawn from Poland, Romania, Turkey, South Africa, Zimbabwe and the Philippines. The team included welders, fabricators, pipe fitters, mechanical fitters, marine electricians and other specialist trades critical to vessel construction.
Despite the challenges presented by post-Brexit immigration requirements and increasing demand for skilled labour across the global shipbuilding sector, Intermarine UK successfully delivered a scalable workforce solution that met the programme’s demanding schedule requirements.
Our responsibilities extended far beyond recruitment. We managed trade testing, security vetting, compliance checks, visa applications, international travel, accommodation and daily transport logistics, providing a fully integrated mobilisation solution from source country to shipyard.
The programme remains one of the largest workforce mobilisation projects undertaken by Intermarine UK and demonstrates our ability to source, deploy and manage specialist talent at scale for complex defence and maritime construction projects.
