1. Purpose
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy (the “Policy”) establishes Intermarine UK’s commitment to preventing modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and other forms of exploitation in our business operations and supply chain. We are dedicated to upholding the highest ethical standards and ensuring that all employees, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders uphold our values in the sectors we serve – specifically, shipbuilding, offshore wind, and nuclear industries.
2. Scope
This Policy applies to all employees, directors, and contractors of Intermarine UK and its subsidiaries. It also applies to our suppliers, partners, and any third-party organizations with whom we conduct business.
3. Statement of Commitment
Intermarine UK has zero tolerance for modern slavery and human trafficking in all forms. We are committed to operating transparently and responsibly to identify and eliminate risks of slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chain. Our commitment includes compliance with all applicable laws, including the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (UK), and ensuring that slavery and human trafficking do not occur in any part of our organisation.
4. Organisational Structure and Supply Chains
Intermarine UK provides workforce solutions to clients in shipbuilding, offshore wind, and nuclear industries. Our supply chain includes recruitment agencies, service providers, suppliers, and subcontractors globally. We recognise that complex supply chains increase the risk of modern slavery, particularly in sectors with high demand for skilled labour and physical goods.
5. Risk Assessment and Due Diligence
To prevent and detect potential risks of modern slavery, we conduct regular assessments and due diligence processes that include:
Screening and Vetting: Comprehensive background checks on all direct employees, contractors, and key suppliers, with a particular focus on agencies providing migrant and temporary labour.
Supplier Audits and Compliance Checks: Periodic and random audits of suppliers, particularly those in high-risk regions, to ensure compliance with our standards and applicable legislation.
Compliance with Employment Laws: Ensuring fair wages, reasonable working hours, and humane working conditions in accordance with national and international labour laws.
6. Supplier and Contractor Expectations
Intermarine UK requires all suppliers, subcontractors, and third-party service providers to adhere to this Policy. Suppliers must demonstrate their commitment to ethical practices and compliance with relevant anti-slavery laws by:
Acknowledging Intermarine UK ‘s Modern Slavery Policy and aligning with our values and standards.
Providing evidence of effective measures to prevent and eliminate modern slavery in their operations.
Participating in audits and cooperating fully with due diligence efforts.
Failure to comply with these requirements may result in termination of the business relationship.
7. Reporting and Whistleblowing
Intermarine UK encourages all employees, contractors, and third parties to report any concerns regarding suspected modern slavery, trafficking, or unethical labour practices. Our whistleblowing procedures ensure that reports are confidential, taken seriously, and handled sensitively. Reports can be made to: Human Resources Department: hr@intermarineuk.com
8. Continuous Improvement and Policy Review
We commit to continuous improvement in our practices to combat modern slavery and trafficking. This Policy is reviewed annually or as needed to ensure it remains effective, relevant, and aligned with current legislation and industry standards.
9. Responsibility for this Policy
The Executive Team has overall responsibility for ensuring compliance with this Policy. All levels of management and staff are responsible for understanding and implementing this Policy in their areas of work.
10. Approval and Effective Date
This Policy was approved by the Executive Team on 4 November 2024. It is effective as of 4 November 2024 and is available to all employees, suppliers, and stakeholders via our company website.
This Policy reflects Intermarine UK ‘s unwavering commitment to ethical operations and our duty to uphold human rights across all areas of our business.
