Intermarine UK’s £15,000 contribution to Govan HELP will help fund a new Employability Worker, providing tailored support for parents as they build confidence and take steps towards training, volunteering and employment.

Supporting families across Govan

Govan HELP is a local charity supporting children and families across the G51 area of Glasgow.

The charity delivers practical services shaped around the needs of the local community. These include family support, play therapy, adult counselling, training and volunteering opportunities, and The Govan Pantry. Its work helps families overcome challenges and improve their quality of life. Find out more about Govan HELP’s services.

The new Employability Worker will strengthen this support by working with parents who are at the early stages of their employability journey. The role recognises that returning to work looks different for every family and should happen when the time is right for them.

Building confidence and creating opportunities

The Employability Worker will provide tailored, one-to-one support to help parents identify their goals, build confidence and overcome barriers to employment.

They will also help parents access training, volunteering and employment opportunities, creating a pathway towards sustainable work and improved outcomes for their families.

Intermarine UK’s contribution will be matched against Govan HELP’s new Demonstration of Change project, which forms part of Glasgow City Council’s Child Poverty Programme.

Continuing our support for Govan HELP

The Employability Worker will form an important part of Govan HELP’s new Family Centre. The centre will bring employability support together with a range of family services under one roof.

This whole-family model will allow parents to access practical advice and support based on their individual circumstances, helping them build skills, increase their confidence and move towards employment at a pace that works for their family.

Intermarine UK CEO Nick Mansell has served as a Govan HELP Trustee since 2023. In this role, Nick helps shape the charity’s strategic direction and supports its plans to deliver lasting benefits for families in Govan.
